The Glasshouse @ The Grove

We went to The Grove last night, for our 3rd anniversary dinner. This place is so much more than a luxury hotel…Obama has stayed here, so have countless NFL teams, and the England football team are also well acquainted with the place.

Set in 300 acres, the beautiful grounds and hotel make for a very special occasion, and this has been our anniversary spot for the last three years! We go to The Glasshouse – a luxury buffet, offering everything you could imagine…and more!

As soon as we sat down, the lovely staff brought us a glass of prosecco (the skinny variety!) to wish us a happy anniversary – so sweet!

The luxury buffet at The Grove has so much choice, that you need to be quite methodical about how you fill your plate! I started with…the starters (funnily enough!). I had some sushi, a delicious artichoke and mushroom salad, some creamy coleslaw, and amazingly flavourful crisp breads. If I’m being honest, I was a bit full after this (!)…but I soldiered on…

Next was a small plate of Asian-inspired food…steamed gyoza, thai prawn crackers, and a prawn ball-type thing! Yum! The garlic and soy dressing was divine. I probably still smell of garlic now!

We then went onto the mains. The mains at The Grove are simply insane. It’s like the best carvery you’ve ever seen in your life – all the meats and fish; beef, lamb, salmon, short beef rib, lamb meatballs in a polenta sauce….the list goes on! I opted for beef, with some unbelievable roast potatoes, roasted celeriac (surprisingly yummy), mashed swede, and some polenta fries, which was deliciously crispy! I forgot to take a photo, because it looked so good. The gravy was divine – thick and dark, just how I like it! This pic shows just *some* of the potato options!

After the mains, it was onto the cheese course. I opted for…all of them! Stilton, Applewood Smoked Cheddar, Taleggio, and another hard cheese. The artisan crackers they offer at The Glasshouse are fantastic – perfectly crispy, and go really well with the cheese. The quince jam is also divine.

As if this wasn’t enough, it was on to dessert! I tried the dragon fruit (yum), an almond and plum slice (double yum), and some super juicy blackberries. Mm. Mm. Mmm. As if that wasn’t enough, they even brought us some little cupcakes to help us celebrate!
